Home Inventory 2.4 and Home Inventory Photo Remote 1.2 are now available. This brings a long-awaited feature to Home Inventory: barcode scanning. It is done through our free Photo Remote companion app, which lets you use the camera built into your iPhone or iPad 2 to scan the barcode on an item or an item’s packaging. The barcode is sent back to Home Inventory, which will in turn lookup the barcode online. If Home Inventory finds an item that matches the barcode, the item will be added to your inventory.

The Photo Remote update is available in iTunes. If you purchased Home Inventory through the Mac App Store, you can grab the update there. If you bought it directly from our website, you can download the update here.

I would also like to give  a big thanks to by buddy Andy over at Meadows Design, who wrote the base code for the barcode lookup. You saved me a lot time.
